Books

My inspirations

These Middle Grade books were my game changers. They opened my mind and brought me great joy. Thanks to my brilliant son for introducing them to me.

Percy Jackson

It all started with The Lightening Thief. A birthday gift for my son that we read together before bed. Non-stop action, hilarious dialogue and "history" (aka Greek Mythology) made fun. Impossible to put down and we were hooked on all things Rick Riodan... Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, Magnus Chase, Kane Chronicles... yes please! Pure genius.

Harry Potter

Clearly no need to do a hard sell on this series. A timeless classic. Not to mention J.K. Rowling's journey is the quintessential rags to riches success story fuelling hopeful writers of all genres globally. Our household rule was the books needed to be read before enjoying the movies. Hardly a challenge.

Keepers of the Lost Cities

After noticing several books my son was reading were published by Simon & Schuster's Aladdin imprint, I took a chance on this series by Shannon Messenger and bought a box set with books 1-5. Well played, mom! So many other kids in his class started reading the series that they started a "Keepers Club." Team Foster-Keefe all the way baby!

The Inheritance Cycle

My son had to beg me to read this one. The books are massive with small font to boot. I was intimidated. And quite honestly also skeptical I'd be THAT into dragons. I was sold when he shared Christopher Paolini wrote the first draft of Eragon when he was  only 15. What?!? That peaked my curiosity. Boy. Was. I. Wrong. Saphira is a delight. I devoured the entire series.

Personal Growth

my ah-ha's

2020 was a tough year, but without it I may have never done the deep soul searching I needed to bring about crystal clarity on my purpose and life vision . "Never let a good crisis go to waste" as Churchill said. Below are the gurus, programs and practices that had the biggest impact on my personal growth journey.

Pathway to Purpose

Offered by Bold.ly this powerful 10-day program guided me through the process of discovering my unique purpose: Empower youth to believe in themselves and trust that they have everything they need to live a limitless life.

Lifebook

Offered through Mindvalley, the Lifebook process helped me take my high-level purpose and clarify what/why/how I will create my ideal life in all 12 dimensions. A personal blueprint for creating the life of my dreams that I couldn't be more proud of and excited to continue actualizing. It's my "first book" and truly a masterpiece if I do say so myself ;-)

Marissa Peer

I discovered Marissa through Mindvalley as well and fell in love with her work. Watch her on YouTube and buy her book I Am Enough: Mark Your Mirror and Change Your Life. She's a wealth of practical wisdom that will truly change your life.

Srikumar Rao

I genuinely understood the meaning of paradigm shift after participating in  Dr Srikumar Rao's Mindvalley program, The Quest for Personal Mastery. So many powerful lessons, so eloquently told. The title of his latest book, Modern Wisdom, Ancient Roots perfectly synthesizes the essence of his work.

Meditation

I'm sure any type of regular meditation practice would bring about positive health benefits and transformation, but the one I practice is Transcendental Meditation. The key difference of TM is its simplicity and effortlessness.
